About me
How did I get here? I grew up in Barcelona in a French- and Catalan-speaking family, although I've lived in three other countries over the years. I completed all my studies in the French education system and spent my university years living and working in France and Canada. As a teenager, I moved to the United States with my father for a time, and later chose to use English as my primary language with my children. I started learning Italian for fun a few years before meeting my husband, who’s from Padua, Italy. A few years ago, I decided to add Korean to my language repertoire—still very much a work in progress. 화이팅! Languages have always been at the heart of my life, making translation a natural path for me.
I originally studied tourism, earning an award for academic excellence, but my first permanent position was as a language mediator in a medical center. In addition to what I learned through ten years of medical translation and liaison interpreting, I took several translation courses before completing a degree in Translation and Applied Languages, for which I also received a special recognition award. During my studies, I did internships in audiovisual translation, working in subtitling and dubbing, inspired by my uncle, Quico Rovira-Beleta, one of Spain’s leading audiovisual translators. After graduating, I went into freelance translation, where I’ve since completed specialized courses in audiovisual translation and proofreading. I've also become proficient in CAT tools and QA software. Together, these experiences and skills allow me to provide rigorous, context-aware translation and proofreading services.
